When should I bring my child to the dentist?
Getting started early is critical to helping your child have a healthy mouth throughout their life. The ADA recommends bringing your child to see the dentist at age 1 or when they get their first tooth. At this age, most of the time children do very well at the dentist. However, dental phobia is a possibility. This can even be a problem later in life if a child has a bad experience in the beginning. Therefore, starting with a positive dental experience at a young age is key for success later in life. When you bring your child for their first visit, our biggest concern is to make sure they have a positive and fun experience. We even encourage you to bring your little ones to the office during your own appointments first to help them become more familiar. Everything we can do to help make them have a positive experience goes a long way to setting them up for success later in life.
